The Southern Colorado Kennel Club (SCKC) is a member club of the American Kennel Club. SCKC dates its beginning to a club formed in the 1930s by a group of people with an interest in purebred dogs. The first AKC sanctioned shows and obedience trials were held on May 25, 1955. The Southern Colorado Kennel Club became an AKC member club on December 13, 1988. SCKC shows were held at the Pueblo Greyhound Park (under the grandstands) and in City Park prior to the present location. Today shows are held at the Colorado State Fairgrounds.
Our membership is composed of a diverse group with an interest in many breeds of dogs from Airedales to Yorkshire Terriers. We have members from Pueblo to Denver to Westcliffe to Rye to Pueblo West and Walsenburg.
Membership in SCKC is a privilege. With privilege comes obligation. In this Web site you will find copies of the SCKC By-laws and Standing Rules. Please read the
By-Laws and Standing Rules carefully. Items two (2) and three (3) in the standing rules state your obligation as a member of the Southern Colorado Kennel Club. No organization can sustain itself without the participation of active members. We hope you will inquire about membership in SCKC.
